Why “Third Space” Project Management?
In sociology, the first place is “home”, the second space is “work”, and the third space refers to places where you spend the rest of your life, where you find community, connection and purpose. You’ve probably been in one today. A cafe, a climbing gym, a library, a church, a park, an art gallery. These spaces, where humans gather to pass their time, to find themselves, to build community, these are the spaces we care about.
About Matthew Allard
Matthew Allard is a construction and facilities project manager and the founder of Third Space Project Management. His work lives at the intersection of building, business, and human experience—helping small and mid-sized organizations bring complex projects to life with purpose and clarity.
He began his career building custom furniture, drawn to the simple idea that a table is more than an object—it’s a place where people gather, share, and connect. This orientation to the built environment shapes his work today.
With project experience in design, construction and facility operations in hospitality, libraries, climbing gyms and zoos, Matthew brings a grounded presence to every project Third Space PM leads. He combines technical rigor with thoughtful facilitation, guiding teams through uncertainty while keeping the deeper purpose of the space—and the people it serves—at the center of the process.
